be. brave. you. happy. original. just be.

Good Morning!
I created a project for the upcoming Mixed Media Madness Retreat and when I was done I had some elements left over and wanted to create a complimentary piece as a second sample for students to get inspiration from.  I wanted to share it with you today. b.r.a.v.e
Texture is such an important element to me whether I am creating it through the use of inks or as I did here with the use of textile fabrics.  I like the organic feel of this piece with the use of burlap, thick raw canvas, and then some sewn elements.  I also threw in some vintage book text and corrugated cardboard as some additional texture.  Many of these items I am sure are laying around your studio and you could easily incorporate them into your project too.
beautiful how the ink
pools around the stitching.
I layered some sewing patterns onto the hearts and sprayed them with some Dylusions ink spray, and some perfect pearls, and then topped it off with Distress Crackle Paint.  I chose to paint and spray both the canvas and the burlap also.
the texture of this section is y.u.m.m.y

For some of the final elements of the piece I grundged (made this word up!) up some buttons so they fit in with the motif. Doodling on a canvas can add such super special element to your work that can bring your artwork to another level.
here are my "grunged" buttons

have a brave day.
