From Start to Finish

This is a 5x7 canvas that I just loved the background texture so much I stared at it for weeks before actually continuing working on it.....the work I had all completed in my mind!  :)

So here is the completed piece:

I chose to use three different types of backgrounds for my rectangles; canvas, metal, and vintage book text. All of those are mounted on chipboard.  For the canvas I used acrylic paints, and edged them with Distress Inks.  On the metal I ran it through my Sizzix in an embossing folder.  Then used several colors of Alcohol Inks to make them look so pretty.  The book text is just edged in Distress Ink-Tea Dye (my favorite). Then on went on the hunt in my "stash" to find all sorts of little trinkets to complete the project.  I embossed some metal shapes with embossing folders, I finally used a bottle cap .....I've only been hoarding about 50 thousand of them.....finally parted with one! :) I used rub-on's as well.  The one thing I can't explain about this piece is the yellow flower.  It just belongs there.  It is it's place to shine and stand out.  I contemplated it over and over because it wasn't in the color palette I had chosen, belonged there. So it is.

Quote inspired by my little yellow flower:
Adversity causes some men to break; other to break records. -William Ward
